A Simple Micro Game Changer – The Fresh Water Flounder

This Micro Game Changer fly is tied flat (like a flounder) which creates a unique, dynamic and life-like motion in the water. When I designed this fly I wanted to be able to imitate either a dying minnow or swimming leech. Both have unique motions and they each swim erratically. This platform gives you the ability to mimic those movements. Primarily I fish this two ways, first on a floating fly line with a long mono leader (10+ ft.) and I also use this in the Winter with a mono rig. Both are highly effective and give you the ability to manipulate the fly like crazy. You can also see it rides hook-up which in turn reduces the amount of time they end up snagged and lost. Personally this gives me more confidence to fish them in places where the trout, smallmouth and walleye like to forage, in the rocks!

In this video I will share my simple, step-by-step process that will give you the ability to tie any baitfish or leach in any color combo you like! I hope you enjoy the video!

In the Studio: Robert Crumb (All the Footages of Him Drawing!)

Robert Dennis Crumb is an American cartoonist who often signs his work R. Crumb. His work displays a nostalgia for American folk culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and satire of contemporary American culture.

Crumb contributed to many of the seminal works of the underground comix movement in the 1960s, including being a founder of the first successful underground comix publication, Zap Comix, contributing to all 16 issues. He was additionally contributing to the East Village Other and many other publications, including a variety of one-off and anthology comics. During this time, inspired by psychedelics and cartoons from the 1920s and 1930s, he introduced a wide variety of characters that became extremely popular, including countercultural icons Fritz the Cat and Mr. Natural, and the images from his Keep On Truckin’ strip. Sexual themes abounded in all these projects, often shading into scatological and pornographic comics. In the mid-1970s, he contributed to the Arcade anthology; following the decline of the underground, he moved towards biographical and autobiographical subjects while refining his drawing style, a heavily crosshatched pen-and-ink style inspired by late 19th- and early 20th-century cartooning. Much of his work appeared in a magazine he founded, Weirdo (1981–1993), which was one of the most prominent publications of the alternative comics era. As his career progressed, his comic work became more autobiographical.

In 1991 Crumb was inducted into the comic book industry’s Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame, and in 1994 the Terry Zwigoff film Crumb explored his artistic career and personal life. He was married to cartoonist Aline Kominsky-Crumb, with whom he frequently collaborated. Their daughter, Sophie Crumb, has also followed a cartooning career.

spur wing waterfowl hunting trips 2025

spur wing waterfowl hunting trips 2025

South Africa has some of the best waterfowl hunting trips in the world, four seasons shooting Holiday’s offers fully guided African waterfowl hunting trips to South Africa.
Premier waterfowl shooting is available throughout the Free State in South Africa where you are able to shoot the largest goose in the world, The Spur Wing Goose, along with Egyptian Geese and various different species of Ducks shooting and Teal hunting along with upland game bird shooting such as Orange River Francolin, Quail, Guineafowl and Guineafowl.

Species of waterfowl hunted in Africa.

In south Africa a variety of ducks and geese are hunted, the most common being yellow billed ducks, Egyptian geese, spur wing geese, shell duck , red billed teal, African Cape shoveller, black duck and snipe, as well as coots (often avoided because of its justified reputation as a poor-eating bird with a strong muddy flavour). Upland game bird hunting is also available offering Franklin, quail and guineafowl walked up or over pointers.

There are no swans in South Africa, Swans are hunted in only a few states in the United States, but are hunted along with other wildfowl in many other countries like New Zealand with the Black Swan. In the UK, swan hunting is illegal because they are property of the queen of England.

Modern waterfowl hunting .

Waterfowl hunting season always starts in autumn and runs throughout the winter. Hunting seasons are set by the South African Wildlife Service in the free state in Africa. In the autumn, the ducks and geese have finished rearing their young and are migrating down throughout South Africa following the harvests from areas to area feeding. The hunting seasons usually begin on 1 May and ends on 31 August. Early goose shooting seasons can start in April, if Conservation Order by Free State wildlife services is permitted.

There are many different items used by all waterfowl hunters: a semiauto shotgun, ammunition 32 to 36 gram shot size 3, hunting pit blinds, Goose decoys and a duck or goose call. Unless ambush shooting dams—decoys are used to lure the birds within range on morning shoots, and the pit blind conceals the hunter in open fields. When a your goose guide sees the waterfowl, they begins calling with a goose call. Once the birds are within shot gun range, the hunters will be given a vocal command to shoot and will rise from their blinds and quickly shoot the birds before they are flare off and are out of shot gun range. Duck and goose calls are often used to attract birds; sometimes calls of other birds will also be simulated to convince the waterfowl it is safe to decoy in range of the hunters .

Hunters position themselves in pit blinds in the centre of arable fields, lakes, dams and lakes, Egyptian geese and the spur wing goose preferred to feed on harvested maize fields or sunflower stubble fields. You will be expected to help your goose guide build blinds to conceal yourself from waterfowl because waterfowl have extremely good vision and can see colours. This is why hunters use camouflage clothing. Waterfowl hunters also always use black Labrador dogs to retrieve dead or wounded birds from dams, lakes and rivers. There are many retriever breeds, such as Labrador Retrievers black and golden Retrievers are specifically bred for the job. Goose guides may also use a boat to retrieve dead or wounded geese and ducks. Some guides use boats as blinds in search of waterfowl but this is not common practice in South Africa.

Every goose guide prefers different weather condition, depending on the quarry of duck or goose they are hunting. Few hunters prefer sunny days vs cloudy or rainy days. However, ducks and geese fly more predominantly on cloudy days with rain and wind.

Approximate price including the first 1000 trap cartridges only £3’085 per person, this price is based on the above costings!
