This year, Hawaiian shelters were thrust into a COVID-19 crisis. At-risk community pets needed help, and clearing space at the shelters was the only way to make room for this incredible need.
This unprecedented situation required an unprecedented response. That’s why Greater Good Charities partnered with the John R Peterson Foundation and Wings of Rescue to launch Paws Across the Pacific, the largest single pet rescue flight in history. On October 28th, we flew a Hercules C-130 aircraft from Oakland, California to the Hawaiian islands of Kauai, Oahu, Maui, The Big Island of Hawaii, and finally back to Seattle, Washington, picking up nearly 600 pets from 6 shelters along the way. This flight is now complete, but the story is far from over.
This wouldn’t be possible without the support of The Animal Rescue Site, Banfield Foundation, Royal Canin, VCA Animal Hospitals, PEDIGREE Foundation, Petco Foundation, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Healthy Paws Pet Insurance & Foundation, MuttNation Foundation, Jackson Galaxy, Lynden Air, Kamaka Air Inc Air Charter Service, and Wakeful State. Thank you.
Paws Across the Pacific is another example of how, together, we #amplifythegood.
