For years, artist Drew Friedman has chronicled a strange, alternate universe populated by forgotten Hollywood stars, old Jewish comedians and liver-spotted elevator operators. Vermeer of the Borscht Belt is an in-depth documentary tracing Friedman’s evolution from underground comics to the cover of the New Yorker.

Friedman grew up amid the New York literary scene of his father, writer Bruce Jay Friedman, but he was more at home with the Three Stooges, Car 54 and MAD magazine.

“Vermeer of the Borscht Belt” traces fifty years of American popular culture through the unique lens of Drew Friedman.

We’ll talk with Friedman’s friends and colleagues, exploring his influences and inspiration.

We’ll watch as he transforms a rough sketch into a full color painting.

And we’ll go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Friedman’s private “Jewseum” perhaps the world’s largest collection of artifacts devoted exclusively to Jewish comedians.

Filha de Ch GrCh ChPan & Ch Int Pagu do Balaco, cuja progênie é incontestável não apenas nas pistas de exposições de beleza, sendo ela mãe de Porthus – Reserva de Mini BIS com o juiz alemão Horst Kliebenstein, Kiara – Melhor Braco Alemão de Criação Nacional em 2006 – Excalibur – Jovem Campeão Mundial da Raça, mas também nos campos, onde seus filhos se provam excelentes cães na função. A própria Luna é prova desta versatilidade tendo conquistado todos os seus títulos de exposição e simultaneamente ter tido excelente avaliação nos testes de campo.
O pai de Luna, é Ch, GrCh, ChPan & ChInt e Campeão Uruguaio Homero 2004 do Balaco Braco, um dos belos filhos de Ch GrCh, ChPan ChInt D´Angelo´s Vitara – a inesquecível Bala, e Minado Bacco, proveniente do tradicional canil americano Minado e propriedade de Marcos Ferreira (SP). Bacco traz em sua linhagem não apenas grandes cães vencedores de provas de caça mas também cães vencedores em exposições de beleza e estrutura. O avô de Bacco, NFC/FC Rawhides Clown, tem como marca histórica ser o único cão a vencer 3 competições nacionais americanas de caça em anos consecutivos.
Pelo lado paterno, temos a primeira contribuição de Zippo, fruto da ninhada Z, que reuniu, num mesmo pedigree a linhagem tradicional do Balaco Braco, através do o campeoníssimo Martini 2005 do Balaco Braco e Iuquico Barretos Megie, fêmea de propriedade do nosso adestrador de campo, sr Waldir Arruda, de Americana – SP.
