Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Overview from a real Wirehaired Pointing Griffon owner and trainer in Oxford, Mississippi, USA. The supreme hunting dog, Korthals Griffon, Russian Setter, Wirehaired Griffon or even Chewbacca, this versatile hunting dog goes by a few names but has one purpose: reliably locating and targeting animals, tracking down injured or dead animals, and retrieving terrestrial and aquatic animals (which is more than one purpose). Griffs do this surprisingly well despite their relaxed demeanor and soft, expressive appearance and disposition. I got my first Wirehaired Pointing Griffon (Dublin) in 2017 from breeders Michael and Mary Drapeau of Dubuque, Iowa, and I am sold on this unusual hunting dog. I’ve worked with dozens of these versatile pointers and am amazed at how suitable they can be as family pets while also being effective hunters. I post a lot of bird dog videos on this channel, mostly Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, but occasionally German Shorthaired Pointers, German Wirehaired Pointers, and (hopefully) Gordon Setters.
