Mika’s Single | Oklahoma Quail Hunting

I try to allow simple things to bring me joy. For example, hunting with long-time friends. Some things are worth saving and sharing. Like a friend’s dog’s first pointed bird and his afternoon afield with his son.

Here’s Larry’s Mika with a single, wild bobwhite bobwhite. In addition to Larry, and his son Chris, I was joined by our host, and my friend, Jason and his brother Chris. It was a cold blustery day January 9, 2022.

Saki’s Single | Oklahoma Quail Hunting



Ken’s pointer pupply Saki found this single wild bobwhite in December 2020. This bird gets up from about as thin cover as you’ll ever see! Fun stuff.

Cognac’s Top o’ The World Single | Oklahoma Quail hunting



Ken’s beautiful pointer Cognac found these bird at the top of a draw up on a ridge on a cold, dreary December day in 2020. Great dog work presented a beautiful shot opportunity.

Penny’s Long Walk Single | Oklahoma Quail Hunting



In early February, 2025, Brent’s Penny Pointer found this single in the middle of a large sage flat. While everyone else in the party searched for a downed bird I made the long trek to see what she’d found. This bird held tight and flushed strong. Watch her enthusiastically search for the dead bird and deliver it to me. As brother Mark would say, “She’s shiny as a new penny!”.
