“150+ pigeons” Hunting pigeons (duivenjacht) in Holland with a Browning A5 and fieldtrial labrador.

Last time we had a great afternoon with 110 pigeons. You can see it in this video:

But we are back, and how? The Dutch kennel Upperclaws (breeder of Joe) was with me today with two more dogs. We hoped for another 100+ afternoon. And we sure get where we hoped for!

On 3,5 ha of barley was a lot of damage from pigeons. This Barley goes straight to the Heineken factory. So its an important job! “Hundreds of birds” said the farmer. He was not lying. With 110 pigeons in the bag in less then 3 hours it was a perfect but very hot (35 degrees celsius) afternoon.

I used a Browning A5 with gamebore super steel number 5 32grs. Iam hunting with my field trial labrador Joe. You always have to be careful with gundogs in barley or other weeds. I have hunted this Barley for 2 weeks and Joe had a couple of inflammations from Barley spikes between his toes and on his back. Its seriously dangerous stuff.

I used some flocked full body decoys and some FUD’s. But when I have shot some pigeons I take the plastic decoys away and only use the freshly shot pigeons.

I have filmed everything with a GoPro 5.

Goose hunting (ganzenjacht) in Holland. Labrador retrieving with a gopro harness.

I am hunting in the same spot as before. But only in this time of the season you can use decoys (dead birds) and a call. And for a change I have put my gopro 5 on top of my field trial labrador with the dog harness.

I used a Browning A5 12g shotgun and gamebore black gold 4’s 32 gr. shells. I use mostly DK Wai calls. In this video I use the greylag hammer and the canada hammer II.

Iam working with my 3,5 year old field trial labrador. Newtons Joe of Upperclaws.

Iam wearing a deerhunter avanti max 4 jacket and sealskinz gloves.

I have added subtitles with explanation of the hunt.

Goose flees from hunting dog (field trial labrador) – Goose hunting in Holland (ganzenjacht)

SUBS IN ENGLISH! Turn up your brightness, it was a cloudy morning. This morning I was with Joe, Red and my partner at a stand. Both are field trial Labs. Mainly of English lineage. The decoys and caller were doing a great job. In this way the geese were perfect for a good and ethical shot. If you are experienced enough to read geese, there is no need to shoot too early and therefore shoot them too high. If they want to be there, let them come. We photograph gray, Canadian, Egyptian and barnacle geese. Geese are a big problem in Holland. They do a lot of damage in agriculture. On this farm they damage the grasslands. They not only eat the grass but also dirty it with their feces. And since they are with hundreds or even a thousand, they trample the meadow. Then wet, muddy patches appear in the fields. In this video I will show you the damage that geese cause. I filmed the whole thing with a Gopro 5 and 8. I hope you enjoy the video as much as we did this morning! Made Golden Retriever looking for German short hair
