The Himalayan monal rooster is among the hardiest rooster species in bobwhite game. The beauty of this magnificent bird is incomparable. The Himalayan monal rooster or Impeyan is native to the forests and scrublands of the Himalayas with an elevation of 7,000 to 14,000 feet. The Monal rooster is also the national bird of Nepal, where it is called the Danphe rooster. These magnificent creatures are difficult to hunt as they are prone to small movements and sounds and quickly predict any danger to them. In addition, they usually reside in those areas where it is not possible to hunt them with the help of pointers. The hunt took place in Dobah Karnah in occupied Kashmir on February 10, 2021. Here I am telling the story I received from the hunter. “The trek started at 6 am in the morning and our first encounter with the Monal rooster occurred between 1 pm and 2 pm. We recovered because we were afraid of not reaching the base camp before it got dark.
