Goose hunting (ganzenjacht) in Holland. Labrador retrieving with a gopro harness.

I am hunting in the same spot as before. But only in this time of the season you can use decoys (dead birds) and a call. And for a change I have put my gopro 5 on top of my field trial labrador with the dog harness.

I used a Browning A5 12g shotgun and gamebore black gold 4’s 32 gr. shells. I use mostly DK Wai calls. In this video I use the greylag hammer and the canada hammer II.

Iam working with my 3,5 year old field trial labrador. Newtons Joe of Upperclaws.

Iam wearing a deerhunter avanti max 4 jacket and sealskinz gloves.

I have added subtitles with explanation of the hunt.

I hope you guys like it and don’t forget to subscribe.

Prairie Dog Episode Upsets Viewer | Viewer Feedback

Keith Warren responds to a viewer appalled by our Prairie Dog episodes. http://highroadhunting.com

Prairie Dogs, Prairie Dog hunting, North Dakota, North Dakota hunting.

Whether it’s hunting whitetails in his home state of Texas or challenging the caribou roaming the tundra above the Arctic Circle, Keith Warren captures the true essence of why hunters hunt. He is quick to point out that it’s not how big of animal we shoot on the show that makes a difference, it’s how we portray the entire experience that sets us apart from other programs. “Hunting is something that is in our DNA and it’s the ultimate connection to nature,” says Keith.

Keith Warren is an icon in the outdoor television industry and a devoted conservationist. He has been producing and hosting television shows specifically geared to outdoorsmen for thirty years and has appeared on networks such as Outdoor Channel, VERSUS, ESPN, ESPN II, Sportsman’s Channel and Pursuit Channel.

A Day In The Life Of: GBS Gundogs & Picker Ups With Kev Jenkins

Episode Ten – With the pheasants flying high over the British countryside we join Picker Upper & Gundog Trainer Kev Jenkins owner of Dafarn Galed Gundogs, as he explains the vital role gundogs play on shoot days.

Welcome to a Great British Shooting, here we celebrate all that is great about shooting in Britain. From world-renowned driven shoots on prestigious country estates, through to walked up “rough shoots” on farms and smallholdings, we meet some of the incredible characters that bring our shooting days together.

The Bodidris Shoot Estate is set within the beautiful surroundings of Denbighshire, North Wales and offers shooters quality driven game on a traditional family run sporting estate. The atmosphere is always upbeat and friendly, as the team are dedicated to providing professional and friendly services, making sure everyone involved has the best day shooting possible.

Gundogs are an essential part of any driven shoot day; they not only can reach difficult areas such as undergrowth’s, they can help locate lost or injured game. It also would be unethical not to have dogs on driven days.

Kev’s role on shoot days is to stand behind the guns and collect all the birds that have been shot.

Before any gundogs can be taken on a driven shoot day they need extensive training.

One of the most challenging aspects of training gundogs would be teaching them steadiness. It’s essential that the dogs know the birds are there to be hunted and pushed forward – but for the dogs not to, what is called, peg them (i.e. catch the birds themselves). The only time a gundog should have a bird in its mouth is on a retrieve.

Kev loves nothing more than building a strong relationship with his gundogs – “Getting to see a puppy that has been specifically chosen from a litter go through extensive training to the point where they can confidently retrieve a bird is the best feeling in the world”.

Digweed: pigeon shooting with warm cartridges

Twenty-times world shooting champion George Digweed is out on the English North Downs shooting flighting pigeon on maize stubble. 90% of the birds are over 60 yards away, some nearing 100 yards. As well as a lesson in long range shooting George also shows us why it’s important to keep those cartridges warm for the best performance.

Why shoot pigeons?
The woodpigeon is recognised as the UK’s number one agricultural pest and causes millions of pounds of damage (AHDB consultation 10-40% loss in yield. Equivalent loss of £125/ha for Oil Seed Rape, £250/ha for peas, £350-£1250/ha for brassicas) to agricultural crops every year including cereals, brassicas, oilseed rape, peas and salad crops. Pigeon damage reduces the yield, quality, appearance and ultimately the saleability of the crop. Pigeons can also cause damage in gardens and allotments – pecking at the leaves and ripping off portions, often leaving just the stalks and larger leaf veins. They may also attack and strip buds, leaves and fruits off trees and bushes.
The UK woodpigeon population was last estimated at 5.4 million pairs in 2009. Densities of wood pigeon are the highest in Eastern England, coinciding with the highest concentration of horticultural production.
Wild pigeon (game) is natural and free range, and it is one of the healthiest meats available today. It’s low in cholesterol and high in protein… and, quite simply, delicious.
