You can go elk hunting in Colorado. However, they have a limited license application process that limits the number of licenses available, and the best areas change year to year.
I don’t particularly care about elk hunting. What are the best hunting areas in Colorado for more traditional game like deer, dove or geese?
The best place to go goose hunting is along the Colorado Front Range. You should go geese hunting during their annual migration north in November and again in February.
What about doves?
You can go dove hunting in August and September around I-70, before they have all gone on their annual migration. Then you can go pheasant or quail hunting, which starts mid-November.
California has a lot of hunting opportunities, but with their push to ban lead from bullets, I don’t think there will be any hunters left there to fund all their environmentalist projects.
