Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years, I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, become an integral part of our ecosystem, and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I’ve seen the beauty that everyone should see and survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish, or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

Many people dream of being a pro MMA fighter, thinking that it’s an easy, free time and luxury filled lifestyle. Yet that’s far from truth. In this video I’ll point out some of the realities of a professional MMA fighter and how this lifestyle is not as easy as you think.

This video is based on my experience of training and spending time together with highest level professional MMA fighters from UFC and Bellator and also from spending time and training with MMA coach of the year John Kavanagh, having various conversations about this subject.

Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey YouTube channel!

My name is Rokas. I’m a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises.

Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton.

After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my YouTube channel called “Martial Arts Journey”.

Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries.

Crow hunting – 45 birds in 2 hours

In slechts 2 uur tijd schieten we 45 kraaien en kauwen!!! Zo voorkomen we mooi schade bij de boer en andere dieren in het veld. De hond Stone was er natuurlijk weer bij, al is hij geen groot fan van kraaien apporteren, die hebben hem teveel te pakken gehad 😉 De havik komt ook nog langs, fantastisch! Geniet ervan!

NILO 70th Anniversary Short Film

70 years ago, John M. Olin, the son of Franklin Olin, who established the Equitable Powder Company, which would later bear the family name, OLIN, took acres of farmland joined by timber and turned it into a wildlife oasis.

He created an ideal place to raise and train the best Labradors that ever flushed a pheasant or retrieved a duck. He called it NILO, which consists of more than 600 acres dedicated to unsurpassed hunting, sport shooting and gun dogs.

NILO was also Olin’s model of conservation. It was one of his most cherished crusades … educating sportsmen and state game management agencies across the country on wildlife preserves and the planning and planting of habitat that benefitted all types of wildlife.

Over the years, stars, celebrities, avid outdoorsmen and legendary writers enjoyed Mr. Olin’s hospitality at NILO and it is still considered today, one of the most prestigious hunting and shooting preserves in the nation.
