When I first started in the pointing dog club, we used this method: dropping birds in a bush and having a few homers on hand. When the dog points, toss the homer for the dog to focus on. Remember, you don’t need to kill every bird for training. As your dog progresses, reduce the number of birds you shoot. Initially, one out of three, then one out of five, and eventually one out of ten.
