Sheep hunters MIGHT need this cartridge
Take this guy in a short action, stretch it up to a 30-06 cartridge length and turn it down to 6.5, and you have 6.5 rpm, which was the predecessor that came out before the 338. Basically, all they did was dial this down to .33 caliber. It takes a .338 inch diameter bullet. It has the same dust capacity. And what it does is it allows us to house a bold action rifle the size of a small receiver. And Weatherby is making those rifles in various types and sizes, as light as five pounds. Obviously, they are aimed at wild hunters. Guys who like to backpack or ride horses to get into nature in search of moose, sheep and bears. And many sheep hunters like a larger bullet and a larger cartridge, because of the bears they might run into. Not that they need it that much for the sheep. For 44 years, I have been fortunate to photograph and write about my passion: the outdoors. Wild creatures and places have always moved me, from the first blushing rooster that scared me to death in Grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that waved me goodbye with a flick of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, become an integral part of our ecosystem, and capture a bit of its mystery, I have photographed, hiked, hunted, bird-watched, and fished across much of this planet. I have seen beauty everyone should see and survived adventures everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the biggest fish or hunted the biggest bucks, but I have tried. Maybe you have done it too. And that is the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world. Produced by: @red11media
