When I first started in the pointing dog club, we used this method: dropping birds in a bush and having a few homers on hand. When the dog points, toss the homer for the dog to focus on. Remember, you don’t need to kill every bird for training. As your dog progresses, reduce the number of birds you shoot. Initially, one out of three, then one out of five, and eventually one out of ten. Related to the Siamese cat, these cats have almond shaped eyes and large ears, with very short hair that hugs their body and exposes their movements, giving them an extra-elastic appearance.
Oriental pointers are also known as “honking cats” because of a unique sound they make when communicating, something they do often as exceptionally vocal and social creatures.
