Shock is 4 months old and we only have 3 months left to get her ready for hunting season! That means we need to get started on some actual bird work now! This is our favorite drill for pointing breed puppies! We use this positive pigeon drill for our hunting dog puppies to build cooperation as well as start to develop the whoa behavior through positive reinforcement! South Dakota Pheasant Opener 2024 – My Dog’s First Pheasant Hunt



Who else is taking their dog on their first rooster hunt? What do you think you should expect? Well follow along and we will show you what you SHOULD expect from your pup’s first hunt!

We took our young dog, Cassie, on her first rooster hunt, but we ensured she was prepared! There are three prerequisites you need to do to make sure your dog is prepared for their first hunt: gunfire intro, bird intro, and collar conditioned to recall… guess what? We have a video on that too:

We couldn’t have been more happy and impressed with her performance on her first rooster hunt and we know if this was her first hunt it’s only gonna get better from here! Good luck and stay safe and enjoy your pup’s first hunt!

Kansas Pheasant Hunting With A Young German Shorthaired Pointer



We had a great time on a Kansas rooster hunt with our young German Shorthaired Pointer, Hex! We did an entire training video series on his development as a puppy and it was awesome that we got to show the culmination of all of his hard work in a fun highlight reel of his Kansas rooster hunt!
