Rizzo is my 12 week old German Shorthaired Pointer out of Nickel Creek Gun Dogs. This was his first training session with John Augustine. I can’t believe how long he held point with his head held high at such a young age and then to finish it off with a full retrieve bird in hand. I love my German Shorthaired Pointer! Today we are taking a look at the Wire Haired Pointing Griffon. I’m no expert on the breed, but I though you guys might like me to give you a brief overview of what I know and then compare and contrast the WPG to the German Shorthaired Pointer.

The Griffon is a very people oriented dog known for its trainability and high degree of cooperation. “Silly Otto doesn’t fetch sticks, ball, toys or other “normal” dog favourites. We collect rocks off of the bottom of the lake for him and keep them in a bucket on the end of the dock at our house and that’s the only thing he’s really interested in swimming after.
This video is of him patiently waiting for us to throw another one for him. And he is willing to stand in the water like this all day waiting. He’s definitely obsessed and a little bit quirky as we’ve been told his breed (German Shorthaired Pointer) tends to be.”
