Upon arrival you will be shown the available accommodation from which you can select the rooms of your preference. That evening, you’ll enjoy a freshly prepared meal in the home-style dining room. After dinner, you can retire to the patio and bar and enjoy a drink in front of a fireplace. The night sky will be very clear and the stars very bright. You will wonder why life can’t always be like this and you should feel very satisfied with life and relaxed. South Africa is famous for year-round hunting of rock pigeons and pigeons. Birds flock to the sunflower and corn fields. Species available to photograph between March and September include: rock pigeons, pigeons, Egyptian geese, spurge geese, ducks, guinea fowl, francolins and partridges. The first day will begin at approximately 06:00 hrs if you wish to go hunting for Egyptian geese and spur geese from blinds, over decoys in furrowed fields of winter wheat. Or you can begin the flight of the ducks in the morning as they go up and down the dam systems, also starting at 06:00 hrs. You will then return to the Lodge to enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast between 09:30 and 10:00 am. Those who wish to take it easier can sleep until breakfast. After a hearty outdoor breakfast you will have the option of shooting rock pigeons on sunflowers from a hide using a magnet or depending on the flight line you reach the field it is possible to shoot rock pigeons in flight, this can be quite a challenge! They fly to the fields from 10:00 to 13:00, where they spend the next 2 or 3 hours circling among the sunflower fields, then fly back to the distant mountains from 13:00 to 16:00. These birds fly at Partridge as flocks between a foot off the ground and 200 feet high. A good pair of sunglasses is recommended as these pigeons against a pale blue sky can tire the eyes very quickly. Another option is guinea fowl sprouts, which can be an afternoon well spent. These birds, unlike their English counterparts, can be in flocks of 20 to 300/400 and many eyes make a very nice flock of birds – they run around like an old bird in January! The guide aims to chase them across the open plains using 4×4 so that the flocks fly twice and separate the super flocks a bit, then they will stay still and it is possible to walk with GSP or in a walking gun line. If the guide does it right, you can hardly load fast enough. A different strategy is for the guide to gather local farmers, divide them into two teams, one team will stand and the other will walk. The campaigns will be for flour or corn crops, as we know it, this can be quite an experience. Approximate price including first 1000 trap cartridges only £2340 per person. This price is based on the above costs! No hidden extras!
